SINOMEC and GoL Sign a Framework Agreement on Nam Houm and Nam Suang Projects

On September 27, 2017, the signing ceremony of framework agreement on “irrigation upgrading and transformation of Nam Houm andNam Suang of Vientiane” between SINOMEC Northern Co., Ltd. and the Governmentof Laos (GoL) was solemnly held in the conference hall of Department ofIrrigation, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Laos.

Located in Vientiane, both Nam Houmand Nam Suang projects are for irrigation transformation and upgrading. Through technology transformation, the Nam Houm project will be expanded from presently 2,118 hectares to 5,000 hectares and the Nam Suang project expanded from presently 5,000 hectares to 9,000 hectares. Meanwhile, the irrigation guaranteerate will be uplifted from presently 50% to 75%.

The launched projects will effectively improve the livelihood of population in and near the irrigation zones and play a significant role in accelerating the local social and economic development especially the agricultural production.
