Sewage Treatment Station Project of Water Pollution Control and River Improvement EPC Project of Jinyuan District, Shanxi Province Launched by SINOMEC Resources Technology Development (Maoming) Co., Ltd. Entered the Stage of Equipment Commissioning and Water Output

Water pollution control and river improvement EPC project of Jinyuan District, Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province is a key water environment governance project launched by SINOMEC Resources Technology Development (Maoming) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “SRTD Maoming”) which is affiliated to SINOMEC. Since the establishment, the project has been developing successfully. Recently, equipment has been installed at two sewage treatment stations respectively at the end of Qingshui River and the end of the waste canal in the south of Jinyuan District. The equipment commissioning has been completed and the effluent reached the required quality standard.

- In 2017, General Secretary Xi Jinping gave an instruction on the construction of Shanxi ecological progress and governance and restoration of Fen River.

- On May 12, 2020, during his visit to Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province, General Secretary Xi Jinping specially came to Jingyang Bridge on Fen River at Taiyuan City and listened to report on the comprehensive governance and ecological restoration of Fen River and “nine rivers” (9 tributaries of the Fen River in Taiyuan).

Fen River is the second largest tributary of the Yellow River, which is called the “mother river” of Shanxi Province. Qingshui River and the waste canal in the south of Jinyuan District are important tributaries of Fen River, the water of which directly flew into the Fen River. It’s an important city water resource.

Ecological protection, restoration and governance of the Fen River is a major strategy related to the ecological protection and high-quality development along the Yellow River. In order to deeply implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s thought on ecological progress and carry out “Action Plan for Prevention and Control of Water Pollution” (Ten Actions), “Water Pollution Prevention and Control Program in Shanxi Province”, “Decision of Shanxi Provincial People’s Government on Firmly Winning the Battle of Harnessing the Fen River”, “Water Pollution Prevention and Control Program of Taiyuan City”, “Plan for Eliminating Poor Water Body Inferior to Class V Water in Taiyuan City”, Jinyuan District of Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province launched comprehensive improvement program of water pollution treatment, including sewage interception, endogenous governance, aquatic restoration, comprehensive improvement of water conservancy, sewage treatment stations, so as to harness Qingshui River, the waste canal in the south and other waters and improve water quality.

Eco-oriented Green Development

Recently, Mr. Duan Yulin, General Manager of SINOMEC, accompanied the delegation of Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Zhongke Meida Holdings Group in an inspection visit to the sewage treatment station of the waste canal in the south of Jinyuan District. They also listened to the report of Mr. Qiu Zhi, Vice General SINOMEC Resources Technology Development (Maoming) Co., Ltd., and the Water Environment Governance Department on the management, construction, equipment commissioning and operation, and other related work of the project.

Leaders of SINOMEC are having a symposium with leader of the Water Authority of Jinyuan District on the project of riverway management.

Mr. He Junheng, Director of the Water Authority of Jinyuan District, said that in the riverway management project, the sewage treatment station is an important engineering measure for the river water to enter Fen River with a satisfactory quality standard.

After the equipment commissioning was completed this time, the effluent reached the required quality standard, which means that the project progressed another milestone. When taking over the construction of the project, Mr. He hoped to keep close communication with all participants in the construction, including SINOMEC, to jointly promote the water environment governance in Jinyuan District. He also indicated that a favorable ecological environment is what the people desire and an important symbol of a moderately prosperous society in all respects. He expected to deepen the cooperation with SINOMEC, explore the comprehensive governance of energy environment, and unswervingly follow the path of eco-oriented green development.

Mr. Duan Yulin said that riverway management projects were priorities in the “two mountains” principle implemented by SINOMEC.

Currently, the project is in an important construction period. The company would hold highly responsible attitude towards the project, communicate and coordinate with owners, government authorities and other stakeholders more closely, optimize the resource allocation of all parties in the project, and fully mobilize human, technical and financial resources, and make every effort to boost the construction. The company should aim to build model projects in industry with high standards and high requirements, provide good top-level design of projects, strengthen project management, and standardize work processes in all aspects.
